Maths Problem

There are 24 hours in a day and scientists tell us that we should sleep for 3/8 of the day. How much time should we spend sleeping?
= ⅜ of 24 = 9
= 24 ÷ 8 x 3 = 8 ÷ 24 = 3 x 3 = 9
The National History Museum has collected 75 dinosaurs. George has           collected 3/5 of this amount. How many dinosaurs has George collected?
= ⅗ of 75 = 45
= 75 ÷ 5 x 3 = 75 ÷ 5 = 15 x 3 = 45

Mr Murrin is 96cm tall and his brother Tom is 7/8 as tall as him. How tall is Tom?
= ⅞ of 96 = 84

The weather forecaster says that it is 200 C in London but only 7/10 as hot in New York. How hot is it in New York?

Today I was answering some questions. First of all it went from easy to hard and from hard to easy. I answered seven questions right and three questions wrong. It was quite easy to move from questions to questions. If you want to work out this equation then you are in the right place.  So for an example: 2/7 x 4/3, so you multiply the numerators first then the denominators. 2 x 4 = 8 and 7 x 3 = 21 so the answer is 8/21 because you can’t simplify it.
